What We Believe

Our Core Beliefs

ABOUT GOD

There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.

ABOUT THE FATHER

God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving, and all-wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.

ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

Jesus is co-equal with the Father. He is fully God and fully Man. He lived a sinless life and was the perfect sacrifice. He arose bodily from the dead and ascended to Heaven where he is now exalted at the right hand of God. He is the One Mediator between God and Man. He will return again to reign as King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.

ABOUT THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives fully in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He is the assurance of our Salvation.

ABOUT THE BIBLE

The Bible is the “Inspired, inerrant, infallible Word of God.” The Bible was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. The Bible or Canon is complete.

ABOUT HUMAN BEINGS

People are made in the spiritual image of God and are the supreme object of God’s creation. All of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude separates us from God.

ABOUT SALVATION

Salvation is God’s free gift. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only through repentance of sin and trusting in Jesus can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty.

ABOUT ETERNAL SECURITY

If you have been genuinely saved, you cannot “lose” your salvation; it is maintained by God, not by the self-effort of the Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security.

ABOUT ETERNITY

People were created to exist forever. We will either be eternally in the presence of God or separated from God by our sin. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with God is Heaven.

ABOUT BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord’s Supper. The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.

Additionally, we adhere to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
