Watch out for Bears!!!

North Campus!

Don't miss any of the following:

Watch Out For Bears!!!
This weekend I'm excited to be preaching on II Kings 2:23-24 in our Elisha series!  Conflict is everywhere and exhausting.  This weekend we'll talk about how we strengthen all of our relationships!  Come and find out what the bears have to do with it!

LifeGroups
We are doing LifeGroup sign ups this weekend!  Check out the LifeGroup Board or the Communication Card in this weekend's handout for a list.  We have two more groups forming - one for college students led by our new Worship Pastor and another group for post-college single ladies. Let me know how I can help you get plugged in!

Discovering Forest Park
Our next membership class is this Sunday at 5p.  Childcare will be provided.  Shoot me a message to let me know if you're planning on coming!

Find Your Spot: We Need Some Help!!!
Having been inspired by the controversy surrounding Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees, we are looking to "juice up" both our First Impressions Team and Cafe!  If you're willing to help in one of the following ways, let me know!

Master Schedulers
If you are highly organized, enjoy playing with spreadsheets, find it fun to organize the cans in your cupboard alphabetically, and are affectionally referred to by others as anal-retentive but you prefer the word meticulous, this may be the perfect spot for you!  Regular duties would be to (1) Contact the team members and organize the monthly schedule.  (2) Send out a weekly text to remind the non-meticulous people that they will be serving that week in a specific spot.

Cafe Workers
If you wash your hands regularly, can look at food without drooling, and can smile, we could use you to help serve food behind the Cafe at both our Saturday and Sunday services.

First Impressions
If you still have at least 75% of your teeth, shower and brush your teeth daily, and sincerely say to everyone, "We're so glad you're hear!" then we need your help on our First Impressions Team!

Please let me know ASAP if you are willing to help in one of these areas!

See you all this weekend!

North Update: A Weekend To Warm You Up!

Do NOT Miss This Weekend!
There are a plethora of reasons of why you don't want to miss this weekend, but let me just give you two right now.  (1) Our new worship pastor, Travis Montgomery, will be leading!!!  He's got a great song set picked out for us.  It's going to be saweeeeeet!  (2) During Pastor John's One Church message, you heard about the possibility of us building a new church building in the future.  At the end of each service this weekend, I'll be giving you some more exciting details on that, and what it's going to take to get it done!

Christmas Eve Services
We have two services planned for the 24th: 3:30 and 5:00p!  We've got some fun things in the works right now.  I'll give you more details next week.

Christmas Cookie Challenge
Who doesn't love Christmas cookies?  This Christmas we want to encourage everyone to make and deliver plates of cookies to at least three of your friends/co-workers/neighbors!  We'll provide invite cards to our Christmas Eve Services that you can give with the cookies.  WARNING: If you stink at baking, just give the invite cards!  Invite Cards will be on the Welcome Table in the lobby this weekend.

Adoption Tree
We are partnering with the Jasper County Public Administrator's office to help serve 350-400 adults who are incapacitated and/or disabled.  There is a small tree that is located on the Welcome Table that is filled with ornaments that list out various needs (tooth brushes, tooth paste, deodorant, socks, etc.)  Please grab an ornament (off the small tree)  and bring back the needed items in the next couple of weeks!

Hope to see all of you this weekend!  Don't forget to invite a friend!

North Update: Some Exciting News!!!

I'm sure you all want to know about...

The Worship Pastor Position
Over 165 people have applied for this position.  After countless hours of praying, interviewing and background checks, we strongly believe that we found our leader!  Travis Montgomery will be the new North Worship Pastor beginning in December!  His first weekend leading will be on December 14/15th.  He's a great musician with a tremendous voice, but most importantly, he loves Jesus and people!   He's going to be a great fit at North!

Now for something you might not have expected.  Travis is as young as Monte looked and still has a little time left in college to finish up his degree.  So, Travis will be part-time (25 hours a week) for all of 2014 with the potential to switch to full-time in 2015.  With that, we've also hired our intern, Caleb Hardister, to work 20 hours a week for all of 2014.  Travis will be our North Worship Pastor, and Caleb will be our Creative Arts Pastor - in charge of the production and creative elements of the service.  Caleb will also have the opportunity to lead worship every 4-5 weeks!

I'm thrilled about this next year and what God will do at North in our worship ministry!

One Church
This next weekend, we will continue our One Church series!  Pastor John will be preaching live at our campus this weekend!  I'll miss you all as I'll be at our Carthage Campus.

Thank You!
A huge "thank you" to all who helped serve over 200 Missouri Southern students at the Baptist Student Union yesterday!  It was the largest group of students that they've ever had.  Thank you all for investing in this great ministry!

Christmas Eve Services
Christmas is only about a month away.  Last year, we decided that we'd just join forces with our Joplin Campus and have a Christmas Eve Service with them.  Well, that was fun, but I was missing celebrating with just our campus.  So, we're having Christmas Eve Services at North this year!  We'll let you know times very soon.

North Update: A Cooler Forecast

Last weekend was awesome!  Not only were most people back from summer vacations, we had 27 people baptized at our Baptism Service on Sunday (8 from North)!!!  I'm so excited for what God is doing on our campus and can't wait to see what will take place this fall!

Is it hot in here, or is it just me?
You will all be happy to know that the air conditioners are now fixed! If you missed last Sunday morning, let's just say it got a little bit hot in the auditorium.

Family Service!
This weekend we have an awesome Family Service planned.  Monte will be leading the music; Megan will give a short challenge to the kids; and Pastor Tim will be preaching live!  Don't miss this opportunity to have your kids bring their friends!

LifeGroups!
We're kicking off our fall LifeGroups the week of September 15th.  Sign-ups will be on the 8th!  If you've had a hard time finding a group to fit your schedule, we have a couple of new groups that are forming.  Let me know if you're interested in one of those!

Hope to see you this weekend!

North Update: Down by the River

As we kick off the school year, we have a bunch of things going on at North.  Don't miss out on any of them!

River Baptism
This Sunday at 2p all three campuses will come together at the Low-Water Bridge on Shoal Creek for some river baptisms.  As of right now, we have 8 people from North getting baptized!  If you'd like to get baptized, please let me know!  I'd encourage all of you to try to make it out for this special time together!

Family Services
We are planning some awesome family services the weekend of Labor Day (August 31/September 1)!  We will still provide childcare in the Post Office and Aquarium, but the rest of Kid City will join us in the auditorium for a great time of worship.  Pastor Tim will be preaching this weekend too!

LifeGroups
On September 8th, we'll be doing sign up for LifeGroups that will be "kicking off" the week of September 15th!  We'll give more details in the hand out at our services.  We're hoping to get a number of new groups started (already have 2 new ones starting).  I've been told by a few people that there is not a current LifeGroup that will work in their schedules.  If you're interested in being a part of a new group, let me know and hopefully we'll be able to work something out!

Discovering Forest Park
Our next DFP (membership class) is going to be on September 8th at 5p!  Let me know if you're interested!

Have a great rest of the week!  Hope to see all of you this weekend!
